Microsoft One Outlook Timesheet
As Microsoft announce their vision for ‘One Outlook’, codenamed Monarch, Timewatch is ready with their ‘One Outlook Microsoft Timesheet’ system.
How the One Outlook Timesheet works
Microsoft plans for just one Outlook system called Monarch
Timewatch welcome the change as it unifies the Outlook product suite, and can reassure customers that our OutlookTime® timesheet for Microsoft Outlook is already Monarch ready.
In 2021, the new year has opened with a report from Windows Central that Microsoft plans to launch Monarch by the end of the year – a universal Outlook client for Windows and Mac that will also replace the default Mail & Calendar apps on Windows 10. This new client “is based on the already available Outlook Web app available in a browser today”.
As Windows Central reports: Project Monarch is the end-goal for Microsoft’s “One Outlook” vision which aims to build a single Outlook client that works across PC, Mac, and the Web. Right now, Microsoft has a number of different Outlook clients for desktop, including Outlook Web, Outlook (Win32) for Windows, Outlook for Mac, and Mail & Calendar on Windows 10.
Microsoft wants to replace the existing desktop clients with one app built with web technologies. The project will deliver Outlook as a single product, with the same user experience and codebase whether that be on Windows or Mac.
Eight different versions of Outlook can now be one
Timewatch have long suspected that with eight different versions of Outlook available for a variety of platforms – PC, MAC, Web, iOS & Android phone & tablet and Windows 8 UWP versions, that Microsoft must eventually rationalize all these options.
ZDNet added that:
“One Outlook (or ‘Monarch’) is the new version of Outlook designed for large-screen experiences. That includes Windows Desktop (win32 and UWP; Intel and ARM), Outlook Web Access (OWA), and macOS Desktop,” according to a description on the One Outlook Dashboard.”
Reports suggest users may see a preview of the new ‘One Outlook’ client by the end of 2021.
A Timesheet for Microsoft Outlook, how Timewatch is already ready for Monarch
Timewatch has focussed considerable attention on building Outlook timesheet systems and Outlook scheduling systems that don’t require plug-ins to function.
“The news about Monarch makes total sense for Microsoft and customers as it unifies Outlook across multiple platforms. This is something that Timewatch has been expecting and planning for over the past three years. Importantly – unlike other timesheet and scheduling systems that require plug-ins to work and will not work with Monarch. Timewatch planned ahead and has already developed an Outlook timesheet that does not rely on old plugin technology, as a result, we are now years ahead of the curve,” said Andy Wyllie, senior product specialist at Timewatch.
The big news? We already have this product in Timewatch X6 – our best product update yet.
Timewatch’s latest version X6 is a major step forward for our timesheet, outlook time tracking, and resource scheduling systems. This latest version provides sophisticated enhancements that improve technology, function, and user experience, but now with built-in future-proofing that other Outlook time tracking and Outlook scheduling solutions do not have.
