I am evaluating WallCHART® and am happy with the feature
that allows the user to schedule multiple resources for the same event, such as
a room, person, and equipment etc. Is there a feature that would allow the user
to change all of a single event's resource bookings in one step?
Yes
there is a feature that can help with this. There is a facility called "Tasks"
which can be used to link all of the bookings together. In this way, when you
want to move them, you can right mouse click on any of the items and choose
"Task > Modify". This will modify all interconnected Tasks. If this is a
common occurrence, you can automate this such that when you move one item, the
system will prompt you to say "there are other bookings that are linked to this
booking, would you like to change all bookings?"

What are the hardware and software
requirements to use WallCHART® Web
Edition? Do they change (and if so what are they) if you want to tie into
Outlook?
The Web Edition requires SQL Server and IIS. You therefore
need a server that is powerful enough to run SQL / IIS and deliver the
bandwidth to the users. This will increase based on number of users, number of
resources etc. Plenty of RAM is more important than processing power. If you
can provide sizing information (resources, users, bookings per day etc.) we can
recommend a spec.
The spec does not change if you want to link to
Outlook. If clients can run MS-Outlook, the client will run fine.

Does
WallCHART® run on the exchange
server or on users desktop?
Both, there is a Server component which
sends updates to end users and processes data from end users and there is a
Client Install which runs inside MS-outlook. If you want to publish data (ie
one-way push to users) you only need the server component, if you want
bi-directional synchronization, both need to be installed. If you use Active
Directory, you can setup your network to auto deploy the Outlook Client. |

The online demos are great. Is it possible to buy the
scheduling pack at one time and add on the time recording pack later? In order
to use the MS Outlook/Exchange Server Interface, would we need the SQL Server
database as opposed to the Access Database?
Thanks, Yes. You can
start with either Scheduling and add Time Recording later. You can run the
Outlook integration with MS-Access, but MSDE or SQL Server are much more
robust. If you are looking at the Web system, you must run MSDE or SQL Server
anyway.

I'm impressed with how TimeWatch
integrates with Outlook to schedule resources. However, is there a way of
intergrating Outlook with TimeWatch's time sheet system? I.E., the resources
(especially for staff) has already been allocated. Obviously, assuming the task
has been carried out, on time, the time should be converted to time sheet.
Yes. Scheduling can be fully integrated with Time Recording. This
not only allows end users' timesheets to be prefilled with the Projects they
are scheduled to work on, but once timesheets are in you can compare scheduled
vs. actuals. Some customers have combined the Advanced analysis facilities in
Time Recording to create a "Background forecast" for Projects so they can run
reports which show actual revenue by job up to the current date, then actual
forecast revenue (based on scheduled time) then the background forecast where
the schedules have not been entered yet. Integrating Scheduling and Time
Recording is very powerful.

I am currently evaluating scheduling software packages to
replace our manual system of reserving any one of our center's nine-conference
rooms. We are looking for a web-based system that would be used mainly for the
sole purpose of scheduling rooms. Does TimeWatch have a system for a relativley
small and focused need such as this? I would like to know what TimeWatch might
have to offer in this regard.
You need the Room-Booking Solution.
This is web based and designed specifically for Room Booking. It is based on
the full ScheduleTime-web product, but has been configured specifically for
managing Room Bookings and is more cost effective. This solution is a full web
solution, so you will need SQL Server and IIS.

I'm looking for resource booking
solution that integrates with Outlook - allowing booking of resources through
Outlook; as well as booking through a web interface. From the Outlook demo, I
couldn't tell whether or not resources could be booked through Outlook, or
whether this must be done through the Scheduler. Is your product supported in
all versions of Outlook (2000, XP, 2003)? Company size is about 200 employees
w/ about 35 bookable resources.
The beauty of the ScheduleTime
solution is that you can do either. You can book resources through the Web
Interface, or you can run the system within Outlook. If you want to make
a booking using Oultook's Request a meeting, you can still do this, but of
course you are limited by the rudimentary facilities in Outlook.
ScheduleTime-Web can run as a plugin for Outlook, so you can schedule from
within Outlook. All versions of Outlook are supported from Outlook 2000 up
including Outlook 2003.

We require the ability to centrally plan and view our
resources. Our present system does not enable us to readily view our
consultants wherebouts and makes it difficult to schedule future projects.
Integration with outlook would be useful as would the ability to easily plan
recurring tasks
This is exactly what ScheduleTime is designed to do
- view your Resources quickly and easily so you can schedule future projects
easily. Outlook Integration is available for all systems.

Do you have options to select different
conference rooms? I didn't see that in your demo. Thank you.
Yes.
The on-line demo is designed to show general scheduling with people, equipment
and rooms. You can have as many rooms, people, equipment as you need... all you
do is set them up and name them. |
|
Does scheduletime allow for multiple entries for one day,
one person? We at times have 4 different things going on for one person on one
day (times are not important).
You can set up as many bookins as
you want in a day. In the on-line demo we have mostly full day and half day
bookings to keep it simple, but you can specify the default minimum. Some
customers work to 1 hour slots, some to 15 minutes. It is very easy to
configure.

Is the database backend of
WallCHART®
open? Can I write my own Access reports for example?
Yes, the
database is open and is designed to allow people to write their own reports. A
database manual is included with all systems and you'll be impressed with the
database design as it was designed specifically to make it easy for Customer to
write reports on their data.

Does WallCHART® have the ability to customize
the time ruler and or to schedule in blocks of time instead of time of day. For
example, instead of a user reserving a resource from 7:48am until 9:13am they
could select say 'Period 1.' I hope this makes sense.
Yes this
makes sense. If you have downloaded the Evaluation system, go to the Resource
Menu and see "Time Slots". Here, all you do is create the timeslots you want,
the start time and end time. You can create Period 1 to start at 9:00 and end
at 9:29 Period 2 9:30 - 9:59, then in the View you would see Period 1, Period
2, Period 3 etc. You can even have different timetables for different
people.

We run 50 jobs at one time, and have 75
to 100 employees doing electrical contracting work. We can export the total
hours from our Accounting Package (Forefront by Dexter & Chaney) but would
like to schedule our employees and equipment to jobs by day. Can you help
us??
We certainly can. Both the Windows and the Web editions of
ScheduleTime will allow you to schedule your Employees to the various Jobs.
This will allow you to quickly and easily see available time and allow you to
schedule your employees. The same goes for equipment. If you have a lot of
equipment resource you need to schedule, you would be better off going for the
Web Version as it is more cost effective for large resource
numbers.

I was wondering if you have some sort of a booklet about
your Scheduling software. Or if you perhaps have a hands on demo I would be
able to look at. Please let me know what additional information you have. I am
very interested in this software.
There is considerable information
on the web site and you can register and download an evaluation system from the
Demo page. Simply click on the I've viewed the rolling demo's and now want
to register for an evaluation link at the bottom of the demo
page.

Hi, we are interested in your
WallCHART® product and have an
initial enquiry - will this product run on Mac OS X?
WallCHART®-Web requires SQL Server and
IIS to run, you therefore need a Windows Server. In theory you could have a
Windows Server with MAC Clients

I'm looking for an add-on to the MS Excel that would allow
schedule resources, let's say I have a team of three analysts and five QA and
embark on two year project portfolio. Staff may change and may be relocated so
I do my planning in terms of heads rather than individuals. MS Excel allows to
schedule particular number of resources available, but doesn't allow to group
them into categories such as analysts. Do you have any solution for the problem
like this?
WallCHART® is
designed to do exactly this job; scheduling resources, viewing them at a
glance, grouping them and defining booking rules. ScheduleTime is not an add on
for MS-Excel as to perform this task you need a database designed specifically
to do the job. The solution is to buy ScheduleTime
